St. Ambrose

St. Ambrose

The original St. Ambrose Church was built in 1886 on the site where the rectory/youth center is now located. The small church was the vision of Fr. Edward Wunder, who was an assistant at St. Patrick’s, Cumberland. The administration of the parish was placed under the direction of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars. When a larger church was needed, a building fund was initiated, and ground was broken on the present site on October 30, 1955. The first resident pastor was Fr. Carol Warner, OFM, Cap. In 2005-2006, the church underwent a major renovation, and in May of 2006, William Cardinal Keeler presided at the dedication. St. Ambrose hosts many activities, including faith formation classes, middle and high school youth groups and bible study groups. The parish Vacation Bible School is held each June at this site, and the annual Harvest Fest is held November.
